A Coffee Smoothie is a great way to start your day or provide you with that afternoon boost you might need. Coffee, Silk Caramel Creamer, ice, vanilla and a frozen banana are blended together to create a delicious pick-me-up.
Coffee Smoothie
Smoothies and coffee are two of my favorite things. I like them for breakfast or an afternoon pick-me-up. We make a lot of smoothies in our family from green smoothies, to fruity smoothies, to oatmeal based smoothies. Of course when I make a Coffee Smoothie they are just for the parents in the house!
Even on days when I make a smoothie to start my day, you can also find me sipping a cup of coffee. My mornings aren’t complete unless they start with coffee.
Today’s Coffee Smoothie blends together a cup of coffee, a frozen banana, Silk® Caramel Almond Creamer , vanilla and ice to create a smoothie, cold and flavorful smoothie. I am taking my two favorite things and combining them into one fun drink. Don’t get me wrong, I love a plain old cup of coffee, but sometimes I like to mix things up, especially in the summer. This is the perfect way to cool off!
This Coffee Smoothie uses Silk® Caramel Almond Creamer but would work great with the Silk® Vanilla Almond Creamer or the Silk® Hazelnut Almond Creamer. Have you tried these new almond creamers? They are a great option to add to your morning cup of coffee if you love creamer. They are free of dairy, lactose, gluten, casein, egg, peanut and MSG, do not contain artificial flavors, have no cholesterol or saturated fat and are Non-GMO.
I love adding a touch of flavor to my coffee or Coffee Smoothie, especially with the caramel flavor. I also really love that these creamers are plant-based using whole soybeans, responsibly sourced California almonds, cane sugar and natural flavors. For those of you that are lactose intolerant these would be such a great option to have on hand for your coffee.
In the summer I am all about cool drinks, even when I drink my coffee. When you make your Coffee Smoothie you might want to brew your coffee the night before and leave in the fridge overnight. That way when you wake up it is chilled and ready to be thrown into the blender with the other ingredients.
I also really like to add a frozen banana. The frozen banana helps to create a creamier, thicker smoothie. If you feel like your smoothie is too thin once you blend it go ahead and add more ice cubes. If one cup of coffee isn’t enough for your morning smoothie, go with whatever you fancy. I am limiting the amount of caffeine these days because I am pregnant!

I'm nondairy already because I drink my coffee black :-) but I may just have to change my tune with one of those smoothies.
Here's something you might want to try it. Make coffee ice cubes and use those instead of regular ice cubes. That'll help keep the coffee dilution down.
I find this works really well when making my iced coffee.
