Start your day with a Peach Blueberry Smoothie Bowl or add it in to your afternoon as a nice pick-me-up. This smoothie bowl combines milk, Greek yogurt, peaches, blueberries, honey and chia seeds and topped with your favorite toppings to create a sweet, healthy smoothie bowl you will love.

Peach Blueberry Smoothie Bowl is my favorite way to start the day. Rich with milk, yogurt and fruit it is satisfying.

Peach Blueberry Smoothie Bowl

Smoothie bowls, like this Peach Blueberry Smoothie Bowl, are a fun twist on a traditional smoothie that you would drink in a glass. Do you want to know what I love most about them? The toppings you get to add after you are done making the smoothie bowl. I am such a toppings and garnish girl. When I make a bowl of soup I always think about what garnishes and toppings will go on top. If I make a bowl of turkey chili you better believe there will be cheese, fresh cilantro, chopped red onion and avocado. If I make a Moroccan Carrot Red Lentil Soup there will be fresh parsley, crushed red pepper and maybe even some crunchy roasted chickpeas.

This Peach Blueberry Smoothie Bowl comes together in under 5 minutes so it makes a great breakfast or even afternoon pick-me-up. It mixes 2% milk {or milk of your choice} with Greek yogurt {or yogurt of your choice} with frozen peaches, blueberries, chia seeds, flax seed meal and honey. As with most smoothies you can really mix things up depending on what you like. If you don’t want to add the chia seeds or flax seed meal you can skip it..but I promise you won’t even know those healthy ingredients are int here.

Once you blend your smoothie, pour it into a bowl and start throwing on your favorite toppings. For this Peach Blueberry Smoothie Bowl I added granola, sliced almonds, chia seeds, fresh blueberries and peach slices. There are a lot of ideas when it comes to toppings including coconut, a variety of nuts like pecans or walnuts, sunflower and hemp seeds.

I recently tried this peach blueberry combination in a smoothie and fell in love. Peaches are on the top of my list when it comes to fruit and they just add such a nice flavor to smoothies. Paired with the antioxidants that you get from blueberries, the protein  and calcium from the milk and yogurt. The flax seed meal offers you fiber and omega-3 essential fatty acids and the chia seeds offer you fiber, protein and antioxidants.  That is one powerhouse of a smoothie bowl!

June just happens to be Dairy Month and I am partnering with my friends at ADA Mideast to celebrate. We are celebrating America’s dairy farmers, who provide us with healthy dairy foods. Last year I was lucky enough to meet the Andreas family in Ohio and learned about their dairy operation and care for their cows.  Take a virtual tour of the Andreas family’s dairy farm in Sugarcreek, Ohio, operated by Dan and Lois Andreas and their son, Matt.  They have been dairy farming since 1881. Today, they milk 1,300 head of Holstein cows and farm about 3,200 acres. It was so eye opening to see the dairy production process in person!

Here are a few other interesting dairy facts that I just had to share:

  • In Ohio and West Virginia, dairy farm families raise more than 275,000 dairy cows on more than 2,700 dairy farms. In an average year, Ohio and West Virginia dairy cows produce approximately 5.5 billion pounds, or about 645 million gallons, of milk. That is a lot of milk!
  • One serving of milk, cheese or yogurt provides 8 grams of high-quality protein and a powerful package of 9 essential nutrients. Experts recommend 3 servings of low fat or fat-free dairy foods every day. This is why I love adding it to smoothies and smoothie bowls!
  • Milk makes it from Ohio and West Virginia dairy farms to your fridge in just 48 hours, making it a fresh source of high-quality protein. Follow milk’s amazing journey from the cow to your glass!

I don’t know about you but I am always looking for new and exciting ways to start our day or help get us through the afternoon. Smoothie bowls are among my favorite ways to incorporate something healthy into my routine and keeps things interesting. My kids also really love smoothie bowls! I make a double batch and give them mini smoothie bowls and of course let them pick their toppings, which is their favorite party.
