Slow Cooker Sweet and Spicy Three Bean Chili is hearty and full of flavor. This chili has three different beans, ground beef, vegetables and a sweet BBQ sauce. Top with your favorite garnishes like cheese, cilantro and sour cream and you have the perfect fall meal or tailgating chili.
I have made so many versions of chili in my life. Some of my favorites have included butternut squash, quinoa, turkey, roasted tomatoes, poblanos. The thing I love most about chili is how much you can modify and change it up depending on your mood, who you are feeding and what you are using the chili for. In my house we make chili for dinner during the fall and winter and of course on football Sunday.
Today’s Slow Cooker Sweet and Spicy Three Bean Chili was a favorite of Mike’s because he loves chili with beef and we both really enjoyed the sweet and spicy flavor. This recipe uses three different beans which gives you a good boost of protein along with vegetables and the ground beef. The secret ingredient in this chili that gives it the sweet flavor is the Spicy Honey Barbecue Sauce mixed with the spicy jalapeño. Mike loves BBQ sauce, so for him this was his ultimate chili.
The nice thing with the slow cooker chili recipes is you can throw this in and let it cook away while you are at work or before you watch football. I like to set out a variety of garnishes like cheese, fresh cilantro, sour cream, tomatoes, red onion and extra jalapeño.
Slow Cooker Sweet and Spicy Three Bean Chili uses Kraft’s Slow Simmered Spicy Honey BBQ Sauce to give it the spicy and sweet flavors along with a nice smoky flavor that BBQ lovers crave. This chili was not too spicy and both of my kids ate it without complaining. If you are worried about the spice I suggest starting with a 1/4 cup of Kraft’s Slow Simmered Spicy Honey BBQ Sauce and cooking the chili in the slow cooker. Right before you and your family are ready to eat the chili taste a spoonful and add more of the BBQ sauce if you feel that it needs more spice. The recipe makes a big batch which gives you leftovers to eat for lunch or freeze for later, which is always a plus.
