What is the Mediterranean Diet?

The Mediterranean diet is inspired by the traditional eating habits of countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea, such as Lebanon, Greece, Spain, and Italy. It focuses on the following ingredients:

  • Fresh Vegetables & Fruits – Tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, leafy greens, citrus, and berries
  • Whole Grains – Brown rice, quinoa, bulgur, farro, and whole wheat bread
  • Healthy Fats – Extra virgin olive oil, nuts, seeds, and avocados
  • Lean Proteins – Fish, seafood, chicken, and plant-based sources like lentils and chickpeas
  • Herbs & Spices – Garlic, oregano, cumin, za’atar, cinnamon, sumac, and fresh herbs for bold flavors
  • Dairy in Moderation – Yogurt and cheese as part of a balanced diet

This way of eating is rich in nutrients, antioxidants, and heart-healthy fats, making it one of the most recommended diets for overall well-being.
