Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookies - the best cookies

Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookies

In the Cleveland area we have a chain of grocery stores called Heinen’s. They have an amazing section of baked goods including cookies. I usually don’t buy cookies at the store since they are so easy to make at home but my pregnancy cravings got the best of me the other day. These Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookies are the product of those wonderful pregnancy cravings. Yes, you are welcome once again.

I saw a box of salted chocolate chip cookies at Heinen’s and knew I had to have them. They were everything I hoped for and more! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I really loved the sweet chocolate chip cookies with the touch of salt on top. The cookies were the perfect after dinner treat. Once I had those cookies I was on the hunt for a recipe I could make that might taste similar.

Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookies - my favorite cookies

I have a few binders of recipes that I have collected from my favorite cooking magazine, Cooking Light. I browsed through all of their delicious cookie recipes and found a recipe for these Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookies which I just slightly adapted. This recipe is perfect–the center of the cookie soft and the outer edges are crispy. I used white whole wheat flour which added a nice sweetness to the cookies.

These cookies use all brown sugar instead of a mixture of brown and white sugar, which a lot of recipes call for. I like the flavor that the brown sugar created in the cookies. The course sea salt is the best part of these cookies in my opinion. Well other than the chocolate of course.

Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookies - sweet meets salty

Once you have the cookie dough rounded and dropped onto the baking sheet you will sprinkle the course sea salt over the cookies and lightly press the salt into the cookies.

I don’t know about you but there really isn’t a better combination than sweet and salty, whether you are pregnant or not!

I just made these cookies today EXACTLY as the recipe is written. They are absolutely wonderful…..slightly crispy on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside. The second batch I added walnuts – and they were even better. My pool man will love getting these!
