Slow Cooker Asian Honey Sesame Chicken Sliders uses chicken thighs that cook in the slow cooker with Asian flavors to create an easy, quick meal that the whole family will love. These sliders also work great for tailgating and Sunday football parties.
SLOW COOKER ASIAN HONEY SESAME CHICKEN SLIDERS
I like recipes that serve dual purposes like dinner, lunch, leftovers and party food.
Slow Cooker Asian Honey Sesame Chicken Sliders can be used for all of these and more.
This recipe uses chicken thighs, which work great in the slow cooker.
Chicken thighs are more tender and juicier than chicken breasts when used in the slow cooker.
They hold in the flavors and spices that you add in and shred really well to create pulled chicken.
We love sliders and often rotate between these Chicken Enchilada Sliders, Easy Chicken Sliders and these Taco Sliders.
For these Slow Cooker Asian Honey Sesame Chicken Sliders I created an Asian inspired sauce that coats the chicken and onions to cook in the slow cooker for 4-1/2 hours.
At that point you take two forks to shred the chicken, return it to the pot and give it a good stir.
Then add in the dissolved cornstarch and water to thicken up the sauce and let it cook for 30 more minutes. Voila!
You have the perfect pulled chicken for sliders.
I love bite sized food like sliders because they not only allow me to eat just one or two depending on my appetite, but are the perfect size for my toddler’s little hands.
If you love watching football, then sliders probably make an appearance from time to time.
The nice thing with a slow cooker slider is you can prepare it and cook it while you go about making your dips, spreads and desserts.
This recipe serves about 4 people depending on how hungry your guests are, so if you are feeding a crowd make a double or triple batch.
This shredded chicken also makes nice leftovers.
You can make a double batch, serve half for sliders and freeze the other half for dinner like quesadillas or salads or put the shredded chicken over brown rice with sautéed vegetables.
I used Just BARE® Organic Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs in this recipe.
I find the brand’s chicken thighs to be unique in that I don’t have to trim fat off the chicken and the chicken thighs are boneless.
That means very little work for the cook when it comes to preparing this slow cooker dish. You can also shred the chicken without worrying about the bones getting in the way.
I feel good about using Just BARE® Chicken in my recipes because I believe in the brand’s mission and values.
The fact that the brand offers organic products along with premium natural items that are raised without antibiotics, added hormones or artificial ingredients makes me happy.
It is important to know what you and your family are putting in your bodies, and feel good about it.
Slow Cooker Asian Honey Sesame Chicken Sliders
Slow Cooker Asian Honey Sesame Chicken Sliders uses chicken thighs that cook in the slow cooker with Asian flavors to create an easy, quick meal that the whole family will love. These sliders also work great for tailgating and Sunday football parties.

- 1/2 sweet onion, chopped
- 3/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce {low sodium if possible}
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
- 2 Tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 garlic cloves, chopped
- 1 to 2 teaspoons red chili paste {optional for spice}
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- A couple cranks of the pepper mill
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 4 Tablespoons water
Instructions
- Arrange the chicken thighs in the bottom of the slow cooker and pour the chopped onion over top.
- In a large mixing bowl combine the honey, soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, tomato paste, garlic cloves, red chili paste {optional}, chicken broth, salt and the pepper. Miix to combine.
- Pour the sauce over the chicken and onions making sure everything is coated in the sauce.
- Cook on low for 4-1/2 hours, and then shredded the chicken with two forks. Once you shred the chicken return it to the slow cooker and mix to coat with the sauce. In a small bowl combine the cornstarch and water until it is dissolved. Add that to the slow cooker and mix to combine everything together. Cover and finish cooking for 30 minutes.
- When the chicken is done cooking remove from the slow cooker and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Serve the Asian Pulled Chicken on slider buns along with your favorite coleslaw and other toppings.
Notes
The cornstarch and water mixture that you add towards the end of cooking helps to thicken the sauce. This chicken works great on top of salads, Asian style quesadillas or on top of rice!
I am excited to be partnering with Just BARE Chicken to share today’s recipe and more this year and have been compensated for my time. As always, thoughts and opinions are 100% my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that allow me to create quality recipes.

I saw these cute sandwiches on Instagram and had to come by for the recipe. I'm always throwing meat in the slow cooker, so this is perfect for us!

Oh, thanks so much Julie! If you guys like your slow cooker then this is a great recipe to try. It is a nice one for smaller children too because they can just eat one slider instead of a large sandwich!
