INSTANT POT LEBANESE GREEN BEANS

A lot of you guys have asked for more Instant Pot {pressure cooker} recipes and I hear you.

I have been working on some recipes for you and today’s Instant Pot Lebanese Green Beans is one of those.

I have been wanting to try to make my Lebanese Green Beans in the Instant Pot because I knew it would be super easy to do.

You guys love both my Lebanese Green Beans and my Lebanese Beef and Green Beans so it is nice to have an option for those with an Instant Pot.

Lebanese Green Beans is something I make a lot in my house and grew up eating.

I love pairing them with hummus and pita, an easy Lebanese salad, Lebanese Meat Pies and stuffed grape leaves.

You can pair these Lebanese Green Beans with Grilled Beef Kofta Kebabs, Air Fryer Cod, Moroccan Carrot Red Lentil Soup, Mediterranean Turkey Meatballs or Lebanese Meat Pies.

WHAT INGREDIENTS ARE IN LEBANESE GREEN BEANS?

GREEN BEANS: The green beans are the start of the show.

I use a bag of frozen green beans because I like the water that the frozen ones produce and help all of the spices and juices come together. You can use fresh green beans if you prefer.

DICED TOMATOES: I use a can of diced tomatoes in my green bean side dish.

It helps create a nice sauce for the green beans along with the spices.

SPICES: The spices are what really adds flavor to the dish.

his recipe uses cumin and cinnamon for rich, warm flavors.

HOW DO YOU MAKE INSTANT POT LEBANESE GREEN BEANS?

For the best results I suggest you use chopped frozen green beans.

I actually always use frozen green beans in my traditional Lebanese Green Beans that I make on the stove.

For some reason I have always found them to work best. You will put everything into the Instant Pot and give it a really good stir.

Put the lid on your Instant Pot and seal the lid.

Set it to high manual for 5 minutes.

You will let the Instant Pot do its magic and once it is completely done you will do a quick release.

Always make sure the Instant Pot is completely done cooking and all the steam is released before you open the lid.

Open the lid up and give it another good stir and taste. If you need to adjust seasonings you can add more salt and pepper, cumin and cinnamon.

If for some reason your green beans aren’t tender to your liking you can put the lid back on and let the green beans sit in the Instant Pot for a couple more minutes.

Leave the lid on they will continue to cook a bit because of the heat that is still in the Instant Pot.

Lebanese Green Beans taste great a few days later so make a big batch and save them for leftovers.

You can adjust the seasonings to your liking. I suggest making the recipe as is and then adding more salt, cumin or cinnamon along with paprika if you would like.

Hi Julia! Growing up in MI, we always ate my neighbor's loubieh with chickpeas. Would it be possible to add chickpeas to this recipe or would there be an issue in the instant pot? Thanks!

I think it would work great! Let me know how it goes. Otherwise you can easily stir them in after you make the green beans.

Very very good! I used fresh green beans and chopped tomatoes I had to use up. Make a nice amount of flavored juice that I poured over rice then topped with the beans. Great oil free vegan meal!

I love that you used fresh green beans. I usually do frozen, so I will have to try the fresh. Thanks for sharing your feedback!
