Our trip to beautiful Interlaken, Switzerland was filled with hiking, delicious fondue and lots of site seeing!
I am excited to share our time in Interlaken, Switzerland with you today! The most beautiful place I have ever laid eyes on.
If I had to recommend one place to see in your life if you love the outdoors, hiking and mountains this would be it! Every time I look at pictures and think back to our time there it seems like a fantasy. I don’t know how a place can be so beautiful, picture perfect and clean! It is the nature lovers dream. My husband loves to hike so I know he was in heaven.
Our time in Switzerland started with a 6 hour train ride from Munich to Interlaken. Once we arrived in Interlaken we made our way up to Lauterbrunnen, a picturesque village that is surrounded by 72 (yes, I said 72!) waterfalls and is nestled in-between the Swiss Alps. When we arrived I was in awe and couldn’t stop asking my husband “is this place for real!?”
Our hotel was a wonderful place with views of a huge waterfall. We spent a couple of nights sitting on the patio drinking wine, eating cheese and just staring at the waterfalls and the alps.
Our first day included hiking around the village followed by some cheese fondue, something the Swiss are known for. Yum!

The second day we decided to make the trip up to the top of the Shilthorn which involved trains, cable cars, hiking and amazing views of the Alps. We had a perfect clear day but be sure if you ever go to check the weather at the top of the mountain the day of—storms and clouds roll in from time to time.
We spent the rest of the day hiking around the beautiful Interlaken area on the Northface trail. Here are some pictures from our hike..oh, and we saw a guy propose to his girlfriend in front of the Alps in a little town called Murren. It was just about the cutest thing ever! 🙂 Talk about a good proposal!
And so there it is..a little glimpse into our time in Interlaken, Switzerland. Stay tuned for Italy!
