If you are looking for a quick, comforting weeknight dinner that feels like your favorite restaurant meal, these viral TikTok One Pan Baked Dumplings is the perfect recipe. This is made with frozen dumplings, making it a simple dish to make! It mixes together with bok choy, a creamy coconut curry sauce and finished off with chili crunch oil (I like the one that trader joe carries), green onions and cilantro. It is the ideal meal for a busy night when you want a hearty, satisfying dinner without spending hours in the kitchen. Plus it is customizable by making it spicier, adding more veggies or swapping the dumplings for vegetarian dumplings.

This easy Asian-inspired dumpling casserole has quickly become a favorite because it is budget friendly and packed with bold flavors. My boys love dumplings and we eat them often. This dumpling bake is perfect for my family because I can make a big batch of the dumplings and feed them all with a one pan recipe. Viral Baked Dumplings Recipe Ingredients
  • coconut milk: adds a rich, creamy base that balances the spice and brings the sauce together. It is a dairy free option when making the sauce.
  • red curry paste: the curry paste provides bold flavor with a mix of chilies, garlic and wam spices. I like to buy mine from the store but you also can try making your own at home with this Homemade Red Curry Paste Recipe.
  • dumplings: the star of this dish is the dumplings. It uses frozen dumplings that bake right in the pan. I used chicken dumplings but you could also use pork. You also could swap and use potstickers.
  • ginger: ginger paste brings a fresh, slightly spicy warmth to the dish to brighten it and mixes well with the red curry paste. You can swap the ginger paste for fresh ginger or ground ginger.
  • lime juice: the lime juice adds a pop of citrus to finish the sauce and balance the flavors.
  • bok choy: fresh bok choy adds texture, color and a mild crunchy texture. Make sure to thinly chop the bok choy before adding it in.

Ways to Modify this Recipe

  • vegetarian: for a vegetarian option use veggie dumplings.
  • spice: modify this spice level by adding more spice like extra chili paste or sriracha.
  • vegetables: add more vegetables like peas, bell peppers, mushrooms or baby spinach to the dumpling bake. You also can swap the bok choy for kale or napa cabbage.
  • crispy dumplings: uncover the dish for the last 10 minutes or broil briefly to get a slightly crispy dumpling. If you broil make sure to only broil for 1-2 minutes so you don’t burn the dumplings.
  • garnishes: add additional garnishes like toasted sesame seeds, crushed peanuts, fresh basil or parsley or diced chilies.

Recipe FAQ

How do I make sure the dumplings cook evenly?

It helps to nestle the dumplings into the sauce and spoon a little bit of the sauce over top, so they cook evenly and absorb more flavor.

How do I ensure the sauce is thickened in a dumpling bake?

Cover the baking dish with foil to help steam the dumplings, and then remove the foil during the last 5-10 minutes of cooking time to thicken the sauce.

Do I need to thaw the dumplings first?

No, the dumplings go straight into the dish and cook in the oven from frozen. It makes this a super easy recipe to make!
