TIPS FOR MAKING THE PERFECT FRUIT SALAD
- This fruit salad is a great base for any additions you like. When it comes to fruit you can use anything you have on hand. Some fruit I like is raspberries, strawberries, blackberries grapes, watermelon, cantaloupe, apples, bananas, oranges or papaya.
- For the softer fruits like the berries or bananas if you choose to add those, you will want to add them when you are ready to serve it.
- The dressing is a great final flavoring for the salad. If you are bringing this salad to a get together I suggest waiting to add the dressing until you get there.
- If you have leftovers of this fruit salad it goes great over Greek yogurt for breakfast, in oatmeal or add it to a smoothie.
MODIFICATIONS FOR THIS FRUIT SALAD WITH LEMON POPPY SEED DRESSING
FRUIT: You can use any fruit you would like. I suggest that if you want to use banana that you wait until you are ready to serve the salad as it will go brown.
Apples are another fruit that I suggest you add when you are ready to serve.
HERBS: Fresh herbs are always a nice addition. I added mint to this recipe but you could do parsley or basil.
SPICE: I think that spicing up this salad is a fun option.
Try adding cayenne red pepper, crushed red pepper or a chili lime seasoning {I get this at Trader Joes}. Jalapeños would be another option to add heat.
NUTS: Nuts would be another nice addition. I like silvered almonds, walnuts or pistachios!
CHEESE: Fruit goes great with feta cheese or goat cheese. You can easily add this when you are ready to serve.
DRESSING: The lemon poppy seed dressing is a nice addition to this fruit salad but you can use your favorite store-bought or make a simply drizzle just honey over the salad.
