Golden potatoes are drizzled with olive oil and garlic and baked until crispy and then topped with gouda and warmed until the cheese is warm and melted. Gouda Smashed Potatoes are the perfect holiday side dish that will impress your guests.
There is nothing like a crispy potato. If I have to pick a way to make potatoes, crispy always wins. Whether it is a crispy french fry, or diced potatoes or these Gouda Smashed Potatoes, crispy is where it is at!
These days with three kids under the age of 5 running around, dinner is harder than ever to put on the table.
I am all about quick and easy, but still healthy food that I can make from scratch. If you like easy and quick shortcuts in the kitchen then you have to check out Side Delights Steamables .
Steamables come in eights varieties, including Golden Potatoes and Red Potatoes which work great when making smashed potatoes. The best thing about their potatoes is that you can steam them in the bag in under 8 minutes.
So whether you are making these smashed potatoes as a weeknight side dish option or a different side dish, these can save you so much time! They are triple-washed and microwavable in a bag for easy clean-up! You can throw them the microwave and steam them while you make the rest of your meal.
I should probably back up and talk a little about what smashed potatoes are. You take small potatoes, like Steamables Golden or Red Potatoes, and cook them {or steam them in the bag in this case}, and then use a potato masher or fork to gently smash the potato on a baking sheet.
Then you drizzle an olive oil and garlic mixture on the potatoes and broil them for 10 minutes. Remove them from the oven, sprinkle with freshly grated gouda cheese and put them back in the oven for 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese melts. Finish them off with a sprinkle of fresh parsley and you have a delicious, mouthwatering plate of Gouda Smashed Potatoes.
My kids go crazy for potatoes, so I knew these Gouda Smashed Potatoes would be a hit. And they were!
My husband and I loved them just as much as the kids did. These would pair wonderfully with a simple chicken dinner or even make a nice appetizer at a party.
If you love potatoes and gouda as much as I do then this pairing is for you. These would even make a really great side dish at the holidays.
