This simple Mango Lassi Recipe will remind you of the drink you often get in Indian restaurants. You can easily make that same thing at home with a handful of simple ingredients. Mango, yogurt, honey, milk and an optional touch of cardamom make this so sweet and flavorful.

Have you had a Mango Lassi at Indian restaurants before? I often will get one from my favorite local Indian restaurant in town and my whole family just loves them. I am a mango lover and so are my kids so we just devour a Mango Lassi when we get them. I add mango to so many things from this Easy Mango Cabbage Coleslaw, to Mango and Black Bean Salsa, to this Spring Pasta Salad, to these Grilled Fish Tacos.
I decided after a few times of ordering it to try making my own Mango Lassi Recipe and it could not be easier. This Mango Lassi Recipe uses simple ingredients to create the perfect treat. You might be wondering “what is a mango lassi?” The concept actually originated many years ago somewhere around 1000 BC. It began either with fine fruits or pure spices.
Recipe Ingredients

These simple pantry staples are all you need. See the recipe card below for exact amounts and printable instructions.
- Mango: This recipe uses chunks of mango or mango pulp. I really like to use frozen mango for a creamier texture.
- Yogurt: Greek yogurt or regular yogurt is a great way to create a creamy, thick smoothie.
- Sweetener: To sweeten this smoothie you will want to use honey or sugar.
- Milk: If you are ok with using dairy I suggest adding milk, like 2% or whole milk for an even creamier smoothie.
- Spice: The spice used to add flavor to this smoothie is cinnamon or cardamom.

How do you Make this Mango Lassi
Step 1: Add Ingredients to Blender: Add the mango, yogurt, milk, honey and optional cardamom or cinnamon to a blender. Blend for 1-2 minutes stopping to stir half-way during the process.

Step 2: Blend: For a thicker drink you can add ice cubes at the end and blend again.
Serve with silvered almonds or another sprinkle of cardamom or cinnamon.

Recipe Tips
- You want to try and find ripe mangoes when making a mango lassi otherwise the mango pulp will be hard and not sweet. When picking a mango out squeeze gently to judge ripeness. A ripe mango will give slightly when squeezed and will often give off a fruity aroma at the stem.
- To thicken the texture or thin the texture of this Indian mango lassi you will want to either use ice {thicker} or milk/water for a thinner drink.
- To make this a vegan mango lassi you can use a vegan friendly yogurt- like a soy yogurt, coconut yogurt or almond milk yogurt.
- In place of the honey or sugar for the sweetener you can use maple syrup.
- If you want to use different fresh fruit instead of mango in this drink you can. I like strawberries, raspberry, pineapple or bananas.
- If it isn’t mango season or you can’t get your hands on mango that is fresh you can use frozen mango chunks or mango pulp from a can.
