Yes, this Hummus with Spiced Beef and Toasted Pine Nuts has many purposes. Are you having a party? This is a warm, comforting dip to serve with some cut up pita bread.
Are you looking for a quick and protein filled meal? This is your answer!
When I make this I like to make a homemade hummus like this Easy Hummus Recipe, Lemon Hummus Recipe or this Spicy Hummus Recipe.
To save yourself time you can pick up your favorite hummus from the store.
That will be the base to this dish and then will be topped with ground beef that is spiced with warm Lebanese spices.
The cinnamon, allspice, cayenne pepper, paprika, clove and garlic come together to create a warm, savory combination of flavors that are my favorite when paired with beef. The ground beef is also sautéed with sweet onion for a little extra flavor.

Recipe Ingredients
Here’s an overview of the simple ingredients we’re using. Jump to the recipe card below for exact ingredient amounts and printable instructions.
- Hummus: The base of this recipe is hummus. You can buy your favorite store-bought or you can make your own using this Easy Lebanese Hummus recipe.
- Beef: Ground beef is what is used for the beef mixture. You also could sub in ground turkey or ground chicken.
- Spices: Warm Mediterranean spices add so much flavor to the beef. It mixes cinnamon, allspice, cayenne red pepper, allspice, paprika and clove.
How to Make Hummus with Spiced Beef
Step 1: Combine Hummus Ingredients in Blender: Combine all ingredients in the food processor. Blend for 30 seconds to 1 minute (blend longer for more creamy texture). Add a small amount of additional olive oil to thin out the hummus and blend again if you think it is too thick. Set aside.
Step 2: Cook Beef Mixture: In a large skillet heat the olive oil {or ghee} over medium high heat. Add the onion and garlic and saute until the onion is translucent. Add the ground beef and turn to medium heat. Use a wooden spoon to break apart the ground beef and let it begin to cook. Add the cinnamon, allspice, cayenne pepper, paprika and clove to the beef and continue to cook until the ground beef is cooked through and no pink is left.
Remove the ground beef from the stove and drain excess fat.
Step 3: Toast Pine Nuts: Heat a dry large skillet over medium-low heat and toast pine nuts, stirring frequently, until pine nuts are golden in spots, about 3 minutes. Remove and set aside.
Step 4: Layer Hummus: Spread your hummus on a platter. Top with the ground beef mixture. Garnish with the toasted pine nuts, freshly chopped tomatoes and parsley and a drizzle of olive oil. Serve with pita bread.
Storage Tips
Store the leftover hummus with beef in an airtight container for up to 4 days. If you think you have leftovers you might want to try and keep the hummus and beef separate so it is more easily stored.

We love this as a meal!
Hello
I have been very hesitant in trying hummus and beef together.
But after going through the recipe here, i think i should try it.
In the picture, it looks sumptuous. Hoping that when i make it is good too.
I will keep you updated.
Thanks for sharing.
I think you should try it! It is really a great match, maybe just takes a little getting used to. We like to use pita to eat the hummus/beef. Let me know what you think!! You can always make the two individually and then maybe make like a pita wrap with the hummus and beef.
