A few months ago Mike and I took a trip to Greece and it was nothing short of amazing.

It exceeded all of my expectations. Of course one of my favorite parts of the trip was the food. I have a serious love for Mediterranean food and I knew I would fall in love with Greek food and all of the bright, fresh flavors.

This Greek Beef Pita Pizza recipe is filled with the ingredients I ate daily while on my trip paired with juicy, flavorful ground beef to create a protein packed lunch or dinner.

I love making pita pizzas in our house for lunches and dinners. They are really easy to put together and you can make each pita pizza different depending on each person’s preferences.

When I make pita pizzas I like to set the ingredients out and have my kids create their own. It is a great way to get your kids involved in the kitchen.

Recipe Ingredients

For exact ingredient amounts and instructions, see the full recipe card below.

  • Beef: This greek pita pizza uses ground beef. I suggest using 80/20 ground beef because the fat adds flavor. Make sure to drain the fat after cooking.
  • Spices: The spice mixture that flavors the beef is dried oregano, dried basil and cayenne pepper.
  • Pita: These pita pizzas use a smaller pita round. You also could use a large pita or naan bread.
  • Hummus: The base of the pita is hummus. You can use your favorite store-bought hummus or make your own with my Lebanese Hummus Recipe.
  • Vegetables: I added diced red onion, tomatoes and cucumbers on this pita. You can use any of your favorite veggies.
  • Cheese: I like adding crumbled feta cheese to this pita. I like to also use goat cheese sometimes.
  • Olives: Kalamata olives are added to this pita. You can use any olive you like or leave them off!
