AIR FRYER SWEET POTATO FRIES
If you like sweet potato fries, you have to try making them in the air fryer.
Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries are easy to make with a few simple ingredients.
Using the air fryer is a healthier option than deep frying your fries and only uses a small amount of oil.
I love how crispy the air fryer gets the outside of the sweet potato fries while still keeping the inside soft.
This is hands down my favorite way to make them.
Another nice thing about an air fryer is that very little clean-up is required and everything is contained to the air fryer basket.
In my opinion there is nothing like homemade fries alongside your favorite burger or wrap.

WHAT INGREDIENTS DO I NEED FOR AIR FRYER SWEET POTATO FRIES
SWEET POTATOES: This recipe uses 3 large sweet potatoes for this recipe.
I like the peel the sweet potatoes when I make these fries but if you like the skin you can leave that one. I found that 3 sweet potatoes served between 4-6 people.
Slice them into uniform sticks approximately 1/4 inch wide or you could try sweet potato wedges.
You also could use white potatoes to make french fries using this recipe.
EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL: I like to use extra virgin olive oil but you can use any oil you want. I think that avocado oil works nicely in the air fryer.
CHILI FLAKES: I like my sweet potatoes fries to have a slight kick to them. If you don’t want spice you can leave the chili flakes out.
You could swap them for other spices like paprika or smoked paprika, cumin, za’atar or chili powder.
SALT & PEPPER: Salt and black pepper helps to flavor the sweet potatoes fries.
HOW DO YOU MAKE CRISPY SWEET POTATO FRIES
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F.
PEEL AND CUT THE SWEET POTATO FRIES: Clean and remove the skins from the sweet potatoes. Slice them into uniform sticks approximately 1/4 inch wide.
ADD OLIVE OIL: In a large bowl, toss the sweet potato slices with olive oil, ensuring they are evenly coated.
ADD CHILI FLAKES, SALT & PEPPER: Sprinkle the chili flakes, salt, and freshly ground pepper over the fries. Mix well to distribute the seasonings evenly.
ADD SWEET POTATOES FRIES TO THE AIR FRYER BASKET: Place the seasoned sweet potato fries in the air fryer basket, making sure they are in a single layer and not overcrowded before air frying.
AIR FRY THE SWEET POTATO FRIES: Cook the fries in the air fryer for 20-25 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking. The fries should be crispy and golden brown.
Once cooked, remove the fries from the air fryer and let them cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve the spicy air fried sweet potato fries as a delicious side dish or snack with your favorite dipping sauce.
Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days and reheat the leftover sweet potato fries in the air fryer for crispy fries.
TIPS AND WAYS TO MODIFY AIR FRYER SWEET POTATO FRIES RECIPE
SPICES: There are a lot of spices that would work great on sweet potato fries. For a spiced up version try cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, or chili powder.
Create a garlic parmesan flavor by using minced garlic or garlic powder, grated Parmesan cheese, and Italian herbs. Sometimes I like a sweet fry. Try mixing cinnamon and sugar and sprinkle that on your fries.
DIPPING SAUCES: Serve your air fryer fries with honey mustard, aioli, a creamy dill sauce or a tahini sauce.
TOPPINGS: You can add toppings to your sweet potato fries once they are done cooking. I love things like crumbled feta or goat cheese along with fresh herbs like parsley and dill.
Sprinkling truffle salt is another great option. If you are a fan of bacon try adding crispy bacon bits for a savory flavor.
MEXICAN STYLE: Top with cilantro, cotija cheese and a squeeze of lime for a Mexican-inspired flavor.
ASIAN FLAVOR: Use a soy-ginger glaze along with sesame seeds.
