AIR FRYER FRENCH FRIES RECIPE
You might have seen my Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries that I shared the other day.
In my house I love using my air fryer for fries because of how crispy it gets the outside of them. No more soggy fries!
This Air Fryer French Fries Recipe is my favorite way to make french fries. This method is healthier than frying than deep frying them.
My kids love these and I like that I can control what ingredients are in them.
You basically are just using russet potatoes, olive oil and spices. I added garlic powder and paprika along with salt and pepper.
The nice thing with these french fries is you can modify the spices to your liking.
You also could add Parmesan cheese to make a Parmesan french fry.

WHY YOU WILL LOVE AIR FRYER FRENCH FRIES
PERFECTLY COOKED FRIES: These homemade french fries makes the most delicious crispy fries. You can’t beat the way an air fryer quickly makes healthier fries.
MADE IN MINUTES: This is an easy recipe and you will have crispy French fries prepared and on the table ready to enjoy in under 30 minutes. I think these are better than oven roasted fries.
HEALTHY POTATO SIDE: These French fries are cooked in the air fryer, using a lot less oil than regular fries, making them a healthier easy side dish for all the family.
RECIPE INGREDIENTS
POTATOES: I like to use russet potatoes when I make french fries. I find that they create the perfect crispy fry on the outside and tender on the inside because of their starch. You also could use yukon golds.
I used 4 medium russets potatoes to feed four people but you can use more or less based on how many you are feeding.
OLIVE OIL: Extra Virgin Olive oil is my oil of choice for its nutty flavor and health benefits. I try to find a good extra virgin olive oil because it can really add nice flavor. You can substitute with your oil of choice.
SEASONING: I season the potatoes with garlic powder, kosher salt, black pepper and paprika for extra flavor. You can easily adjust the seasoning based on your liking.
HOW TO MAKE FRENCH FRIES IN THE AIR FRYER
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
PREPARE THE POTATOES: Wash the potatoes thoroughly and pat them dry with paper towels.
Peel and cut potatoes with a sharp knife into evenly sized fries, about 1/4 inch thick.
SEASON THE POTATOES: In a large bowl, combine the potato fries, olive oil, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Toss well to ensure all the fries are evenly coated with the seasoning.
PLACE POTATOES IN AIR FRYER: Carefully place a single layer of seasoned potato fries into the air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding the basket to ensure even cooking and crispy results.
COOK THE FRIES: Cook the fries in the air fryer for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure they cook evenly. The cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of your fries and the air fryer model you are using.
Once the fries are golden brown and crispy, remove them from the air fryer and transfer to a serving dish. These make the perfect fries every time.
MODIFICATIONS FOR CRISPY AIR FRYER FRENCH FRIES
POTATO: I’ve used white potatoes in this recipe, but you can swap out regular potatoes for sweet potatoes, you will just need to cook them for an extra 5 minutes. You also could use Yukon gold potatoes.
SPICES: use any variety of ground spices or seasoning blends to flavor the fries, try cumin, coriander, za’atar, cayenne pepper, Italian seasoning, onion powder, Cajun seasoning or taco seasoning.
CHILI: Add some chili heat by seasoning the potatoes with red pepper flakes or chili powder.
CHEESE: Make garlic Parmesan French fries by coating the fries in a mixture of garlic powder, Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning.
HERBS: Fresh herbs like parsley or cilantro can add a burst of freshness to your fries.
TRUFFLE: Drizzle truffle oil over the fries and sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese for a decadent treat.
WHAT TOPPINGS TO PUT ON FRIES?
You can also make Loaded Air Fryer Potato Fries, loading the fries once they are cooked with the toppings of your choice, here are some ideas:
MEXICAN: season the fries with taco seasoning then, once cooked, top with cilantro, grated cheese, salsas and sliced red chili.
GREEK: top fries with crumbled feta cheese, diced tomatoes, olives, and tzatziki sauce for a Mediterranean flair.
RANCH: season the fries with ranch seasoning, then top the cooked fries with shredded chicken, crispy bacon pieces and drizzle over some ranch dressing.
CHILI: top the cooked fries with beef chili, grated cheese, sour cream, jalapeno peppers and a squeeze of lime.
CHORIZO: top with cubes of sautéed chorizo, grated cheese and finely sliced red chili and green onions.
LOADED: top the fries with bacon bits, green onions, sour cream, and any other toppings you enjoy, similar to loaded baked potatoes.
STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS FOR AIR FRYER FRIES
MAKE AHEAD: You can prepare the potatoes and cut the fries ahead of time, then store completely submerged in cold water in the refrigerator.
When ready to cook, drain off the water and pat the fries dry on some kitchen paper before seasoning and cooking.
STORAGE: Leftovers can be safely stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Gently reheat in the air fryer to reheat and crisp them up.
REHEATING: Reheating french fries is so easy in the air fryer. Just heat them for about 4-5 minutes and they should be crispy again.
You can season them a little more with oil and the spices before adding them back into the air fryer if you think they have soaked up all of the flavor in the fridge.
WHAT TO SERVE WITH CRISPY FRENCH FRIES
I like to serve these crispy seasoned air fryer potato fries immediately, when they are hot and crispy.
They make a delicious side dish or snack.
Fries pair perfectly with ketchup, mayonnaise, or your favorite dipping sauce, try a honey mustard, aioli, or my creamy dill sauce or a tahini sauce.
