This Creamy Mexican Dip has all the flavors you like in your favorite Mexican dip: avocado, cilantro, red onion and salsa, but lightened up using Greek yogurt instead of sour cream.  This makes the perfect, healthy appetizer at a party paired with chips or a topping for your favorite Mexican dish.

Creamy Mexican Dip

I have had this recipe in the back of my mind for some time now and kept meaning to share it.

Somehow it kept falling off the radar until now.  I love this Creamy Mexican Dip so much. In fact, if this is in the fridge, I can eat it all myself.

When I think of creamy dips, I think of cream cheese or sour cream, or a lot of gooey cheese.

Some of the time when I make dips I love the gooey cheese as much as the next person.

But other times I want to eat a dip that is a little better for me and lighter on the waist line.

Today’s Creamy Mexican Dip is creamy but without the guilt.

This dip uses Stonyfield Greek Yogurt to give it that creamy texture while keeping it light and healthy.

I love using yogurt as a substitute in recipes like this Creamy Mexican Dip, Tenderest Cardamom Pancakes or Creamy Dill Greek Yogurt Dip.

Creamy Mexican Dip

I first tried this Creamy Mexican Dip at a party my sister’s friend had.

She had this dip sitting out on the table with all of those pretty garnishes on to and I fell in love instantly.  I am a total garnish girl.

The more garnishes the better.

I like the flavors and textures it adds to a dip and that each bite takes a little bit different depending on what garnishes you get on your chip.

I also like that some of the dip is creamy yet some of the dip is chunky.

Creamy Mexican Dip

This dip was by far the most popular appetizer on the table and was gone in no time.

I knew I had to get the recipe from her so I could make it for my summer parties.

This Creamy Mexican Dip is a mixture of tangy Greek yogurt, the salsa of your choice, avocado, spices, red onion and cilantro.  When I make this dip I use a spicy salsa but you can use whatever you have on hand or like.

I have tried this with a mild salsa and a black bean & corn salsa and both tasted wonderful.

While I think of this more as a dip it could easily be used as a topping for tacos or nachos.

Creamy Mexican Dip

I like to serve this Creamy Mexican Dip with Late July Organic Chips .

These chips are so good–crunchy, salty, nonGMO, organic and the perfect helper for this dip.

Late July Organic Chips also has some really fun flavors, like Red Hot Mojo and Jalapeño Lime Chips.

If you are feeling adventurous those would be fun to pair with this dip.

This dip is on regular rotation at our house and for all of the gatherings! Itโ€™s so easy and everyone always raves about how delicious it is! And you donโ€™t have to feel guilty eating it! I also like that you can easily adjust the quantity of ingredients based on what you have on hand or how you like it. I always add more avocado because I love it so much!
