Recipe Ingredients You’ll Need
- Beef: This recipe uses ground chuck or ground beef. If you like a juicier burger I suggest using 80/20 ground beef.
- Vegetables: The secret ingredient that makes these so delicious is the finely chopped roasted red pepper.
- Herbs: Fresh parsley adds flavor to the burger.
- Spices: The spices are oregano, cumin, paprika and garlic powder. These work so well together with the beef and add a lot of great flavor.
Please see the recipe card below for exact ingredient amounts and instructions.

Recipe FAQ
You can use ground beef, ground lamb or even ground turkey. Ground lamb or a mix of lamb and beef is traditional for Mediterranean flavor, but you can also use ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option. Just make sure there’s enough fat content to keep the burgers juicy—aim for 80/20 if possible.
I love a tzatziki sauce, hummus, whipped feta, baba ganoush, arugula, red onion, tomato, cucumber, olives, and feta are all flavorful options. Pickled veggies like turnips or pickled red onions can also add a great tang.

This is the very first time I’ve ever left a comment about a recipe (and I am 75 yrs young), but these have got to be the best hamburgers I have ever made! I added just a tad of Tuscan blend olive oil; and I have made them twice this week. Thank you for this delicious recipe!
