LAYERED GREEK DIP
I grew up eating hummus at many of my family get togethers.
When we ate it back when I was young it often was this Lebanese Hummus Recipe.
As I got older hummus became more of a mainstream dip that people could buy at the store.
I love seeing it used in so many ways from a dip, in Buddha Bowls, a spread on this Beef Shawarma, in salad dressings, on toast or even in pasta dishes.
Today’s Layered Greek Dip takes hummus to a whole new level.
It pairs it with a layer of Greek yogurt and then tops fresh vegetables, feta cheese and herbs on top.
I love serving this party dip with pita chips or pita bread or an array of fresh vegetables.
I love taking hummus and dressing it up with colorful, fresh ingredients.
I also like to make this Hummus Platter and the Lebanese Style Hummus – both topped with fresh ingredients!
The more toppings the better in my opinion.
When making this Layered Greek Dip you can easily modify it to your tastes by adding additional vegetables, pepperoncinis or these Lemon Marinated Olives.
This dip is the perfect way to celebrate the warm weather that is coming.
WHAT INGREDIENTS GO INTO A LAYERED GREEK DIP?
GREEK YOGURT: I used plain Greek Yogurt in this recipe but you can also use plain yogurt in its place.
I find Greek yogurt to add a nice tanginess and it is thicker which works nicely in dips like this. It also adds protein! I mix lemon juice and dill into the yogurt.
HUMMUS: Hummus is one of the stars of this dip. You can buy your favorite hummus at the store or make one of my recipes. I especially like this Lebanese Hummus Recipe, Lemon Hummus, Roasted Red Pepper Greek Yogurt Hummus or Spicy Hummus.
VEGETABLES: I like to load up the fresh vegetables in this dip making it healthy and colorful.
I used roasted red peppers, tomatoes, cucumber and red onion. Other vegetables that would be nice are radish, celery, bell pepper and capers.
FETA CHEESE: Feta cheese is always my favorite topping on hummus.
You can use crumbled or buy the bigger block of feta and cut it into chunks.
FRESH HERBS: To finish off this dip I love add fresh parsley and mint but that is optional.
HOW DO YOU MAKE A LAYERED GREEK DIP?
In a medium bowl mix together the Greek yogurt, lemon zest, lemon juice and dill.
Spread the Greek yogurt evenly into the base of an 8X8 baking dish or a large rimmed plate.
Top with an even layer of hummus.
Top with a layer of cucumbers, followed by roasted red peppers, red onion, tomatoes and feta cheese.
Finish with chopped parsley and fresh mint. Serve immediately with pita chips or crudités.
WHAT SHOULD I SERVE LAYERED GREEK DIP?
SEAFOOD: This dip works nicely alongside seafood like this Black Sea Bass Recipe, Baked Cod with Lemon or this Air Fryer Cod.
CHICKEN: Another great pairing for this dip is this Chicken Kofta, Mediterranean Chicken, Chicken Shawarma or this Lemon Marinaded Chicken.
STEAK: Beef is also a nice pairing for this dip. I really like this Grilled Beef Kofta Kebabs, Beef Kafta Meatballs or these Mediterranean Beef Kabobs.
