This Minced Lamb Recipe is the perfect mixture of ground lamb, garlic, onion and warm spices. This ground lamb can be used as the base for so many recipes from pita sandwiches, hummus or rice bowls, or adding to pasta. You can meal-prep the lamb ahead of time for a quick lunch or dinner!

In many Middle Eastern recipes there is either ground lamb or ground beef added in. I often rotate between this Minced Lamb Recipe, Lamb Curry, Braised Lamb Shanks, Lamb Croquette, Minced Lamb, Braised Lamb Shanks, Lamb Kofta, Spiced Gourd Lamb Pitas and these Mediterranean Zucchini Boats when I want to make lamb. Today’s Minced Lamb Recipe is a great base for many recipes from pita wraps, to rice or hummus bowls to adding alongside salads. It is also budget-friendly.
The spices that are mixed together with the lamb are so warm and add a lot of flavor. I used cumin, cinnamon, oregano, cloves, paprika, allspice and cayenne red pepper. You could add this minced lamb to your weekly meal-prep to have on hand during the week. In the recipe I give you the ingredients to assemble a hummus bowl to add the ground lamb to. It is one of my favorite ways to eat it! When I am looking for a healthy, protein packed lunch or weeknight dinner I often look to hummus bowls. The nice thing is that you can pair the ingredients you have on hand. You can chop your ingredients ahead of time and cook the lamb and have it ready to assemble when you need a quick meal option.
Recipe Ingredients

- Extra Virgin Olive Oil: I use extra virgin olive oil to cook the lamb and the onions and garlic in. You can use whatever oil you prefer.
- Garlic: The garlic isn’t a necessity but I personally like the flavor it adds.
- Onion: You can use sweet onions or red onions. I perfect the taste of red onions but either works. Try to diced the onion finely so mixes in nicely with the meat.
- Ground Lamb: You can often find ground lamb in the meat department but if you can’t ask your butcher to help you.
- Spices: The spice mixture that I used is cumin, cinnamon, oregano, cloves, paprika, allspice and cayenne pepper.
How Do You Make Minced Lamb
Step 1. Mix the Spices: In a small mixing bowl combine the spice mixture of salt, black pepper, cumin, cinnamon, oregano, cloves, paprika and cayenne red pepper and mix well.
Step 2. Saute the Onion and Garlic: Heat a large saucepan over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Add the garlic and red onion and sauté for 2 minutes.
Step 3. Cook the Lamb: Add the ground lamb and the spice mixture and brown until cooked through, about 5-8 minutes. Drain and set aside. Use the ground lamb in hummus or rice bowls, pitas, pasta and more garnished with fresh mint and yogurt. Store leftovers in an airtight container.

Storage Instructions
Store the leftover minced lamb in an airtight container for up to 4 days in the fridge.
